SOLUTION:
1. You would first need to quickly reassure both of them that you are going to help them and that they will be fine. 2. You then ask the bystanders to go send for help. 3. You then need to think of the danger that you could be putting yourself into. The water could have many dangers such as animals, logs or debris as the pool has floodwater in it. So you do not want to enter the water. |
|
4. You ask a bystander to help you, so you tell them to grab a broom or something long and explain to them how to do a reach rescue. They do this while you are rescuing person A.
5. You find and pick up a rope on the side of the pool and roll it up in your hands, you then warn Person A that you are going to throw it, you then throw it out to their shoulder and ask them to grab hold of it.
6. You then start pulling them into the edge of the pool.
7. While pulling them in, ask another bystander to get you ice while you are rescuing person A.
8. Once they are at the edge, you cross over your hands, and hold onto their hands.
9. You then tell them that on the count of three you will twist them out of the water onto the ledge of the pool.
10. Then once out of water, you need to deal with their twisted foot.
11.You lie Person A down and lift their sore leg up onto a stool/block to keep their foot elevated. You then put the ice supplied by one of the bystanders onto person A’s foot.
12. You then tell person A to relax and breathe.
13. You go over to person B and tell them to breathe and relax as well. You also ask them how they feel
14. Watch over Person A and B until the ambulance arrives.
